What does it mean to walk worthy?

Ephesians 4:1-3 says, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

How would you describe the way you walk in the day to day? (I would encourage you to pause and consider that question for a moment before continuing to scroll)

Sometimes our day to day can be described as…

…Getting by.

…Slow.

…Hanging in there.

…Lazy.

…Burdened.

…Aimless.

…Weighed down with life’s circumstances.
…Unfocused.

…Short-fused.

…Weary.

…Easily angered or frustrated.

…Pushing through.

…Reacting and responding in the flesh.

…Wanting to just get over this season and on to the next.

Maybe we wouldn’t use such strong words to paint the picture of the reality of our day to day.  Or maybe these just brush the surface.  Are there deep rooted things that are easily entangling our lives?

I don’t know about you but there was much of my life that I would just keep trekking through and avoid those fruits (especially the not so good or fresh fruit) in my life.  Some seasons I didn’t even realize that the fruit of my life was much more visible to those around me than I would have liked to admit.

Whether we prefer it or not, our life is producing fruit.  So, let’s ask ourselves and ask the Lord, what kind of fruit is my life producing in this moment, season, and in all circumstances?

When we know He is worthy, walking worthy of the calling we’ve been given, and abiding in the Vine, we walk as Ephesians 4 tells us,

…With all humility and gentleness.

…With patience.

…Bearing with one another in love.

…Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

…Speaking in a way that builds up those around us.

…Kind to one another.

…Tenderhearted.

…Forgiving one another.

And I would also add (found in other scripture)…

…hopeful.

….by faith.

…rejoicing in all circumstances.

…self-controlled.

…looking at His goodness.

…with eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

I am so thankful that our Heavenly Father knows us.  He sees us.  He hears us.  And He loves us.  I praise Him from whom all blessings flow as we walk together.  As we dig deeper into the abundant and victorious life He already paid for on the cross, I look forward to growing together and seeing Him lifted high, first in my own life, and next in those around me.

Walk it out (Challenge for today):  Take a few minutes to read Ephesians 4:1-3 (sometimes I find it helpful to read aloud, if that helps you) and ask God to reveal the manner in which you are walking.  Not just a mountain top experience in the past or where you hope to be, but what the fruit of your life is, right now in this season, today, in this moment.
Worship while we walk (suggestion as you begin or continue worshipping today): Worthy – John Wilds | Moment

May we seek Him with our whole hearts and respond to Him.  Our Father’s heart cares so deeply about the condition of our hearts.  He loves His children with an ever lasting, pure, and steadfast love.  His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Sister, you are loved.  May your arms and heart be lifted today and may the hope we have in Jesus Christ be tangible right where you are.

He is worthy!

Walking worthy of the calling alongside you and for His glory,

-B
